If there’s one thing we love to be a part of when it comes to our local Chesterfield culture, it’s innovative and thought-provoking art institutions. From our involvement in the award-winning The Last Photo exhibition with The Georgia Bird Foundation, to our longstanding relationship with Junction Arts, there’s very little we love as much as spreading the word of local art as far as we can.
This is why we couldn’t have been prouder to be involved with The Chesterfield Museum’s ‘Chesterfield In Lockdown’ exhibition.
The multiple lockdowns initiated in the UK in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is the kind of moment in history that needs no introduction, as everyone reading this will remember the uncertainty and turbulence that affected the everyday texture of our lives surrounding them. Now, having gained some distance from the years of Lockdown and Quarantine, Chesterfield Museum reflected on the impact they had on us as told through the medium of art. Prose, Textiles, Paintings, Illustrations, Photographs and more- all donated to the museum by local people to be displayed together.
Although the Chesterfield Museum has been closed for some time now as it undergoes renovation, ‘Chesterfield In Lockdown’ displayed in the Main Hall of the Assembly Rooms (Chesterfield Market Hall) over March and April 2023.
Kakou created a website housing various audio and visual works created by local artists and donated the touchscreen displays for the event.
