Last year Kakou were commissioned by the University of Derby to produce a piece of community artwork to be displayed at their Chesterfield Campus.
With the help of the students, teachers and staff of St. Helena, and the festival-goers of Chesterfield Pride 2019, we created a giant canvas of the St. Helena campus (home of the University’s College of Health and Social Care).
Originally painted in Pride colours, the rainbow has become a symbol of support for people wanting to show solidarity with NHS workers on the front line.
During the Covid-19 pandemic many of the nursing and allied healthcare students from St. Helena have taken to the frontline, working in hospitals as part of our NHS and Care Heroes.
As a thank you and acknowledgement of all the work the NHS has done during the pandemic, we are selling prints of the St. Helena canvas, alongside rainbow inspired t-shirts and tote bags.
The proceeds will go to #ProtectYourNHS – the charity of Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
