Yesterday we proudly attended the book launch of Insights in Sound: Visually Impaired Musicians’ Lives and Learning  – a book written by Dr. David Baker and Prof. Lucy Green of the UCL Institute of Education.

Through an international survey combined with life-history interviews, the book draws a vivid picture of how visually impaired musicians approach and conceive their musical activities, with detailed illustrations of the particular opportunities and challenges faced by a variety of individuals.

We were treated to performances from the Inner Vision Orchestra (the UK’s only ensemble of blind and visually impaired musician) and a solo performance from the delightful soprano Victoria Oruwari.
